Fire systems supporting a 100 MW / 200 MWh energy storage facility.

The Terang Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a 100 MW / 200 MWh project located at 70 Littles Lane beside the Terang Terminal Station. Delivered by Canadian Solar and TEC-C for FRV, the project includes 48 battery containers across 1.4 hectares. DIS Fire Systems was engaged to deliver the complete fire protection scope — design, supply, installation, and commissioning — along with documentation to support CFA and local-authority compliance
Delivering a compliant multi-stage fire-protection package aligned with CFA-approved Fire Management Plan requirements.
The Terang BESS required complex integration between on-site infrastructure, switchroom detection systems, and containerised BESS panels. DIS Fire Systems managed phased delivery under tight regulatory timelines, coordinating with TEC-C, FRV and Canadian Solar to align with FMP. Challenges included synchronising the main FIP logic with multiple field loops, maintaining documentation traceability for CFA audit, and completing over 400 m of hydrant ring-main installation while other trades remained active on site
End-to-end design, installation & commissioning under a four-phase ITP program
DIS Fire Systems delivered the full lifecycle of fire-protection works for the Terang BESS, from concept design through to commissioning and documentation closeout. The process began with detailed design coordination covering hydrant coverage, hydraulic demand calculations, and pump sizing aligned with CFA and FRV requirements.
Comprehensive fire-system commissioning supporting project energisation.
The Terang BESS fire-protection system was commissioned and accepted ahead of program. The final package included $ 945 K of installed works spanning hydrants, tanks, pumps, detection systems and field networking. All documentation (ITPs, ITRs, SAT records and FMP linkage) was endorsed and submitted to CFA as part of the final construction compliance process
